The Olive Tree |
|
The secular olive trees are one of the the subject of the painter Letizia Lisi. They are a typical element of Apulia in which the artist has lived since childhood and where she reached her pictorial maturity revising the surrounding environment in a unique style: the discovery of blue as the main color in her palette.
The brushstrokes, sinuous and flexible fill the spaces of the canvas changing the spectrum of colors of reality in a monocrome, made of blue and shades of blue, the color of the soul.
Her work becomes a distinctive way of being and living art in which some innovative elements merge with traditional elements.
The painting " The olive tree of the village " has striking colors and shades ranging from cobalt blue to cyano , with shades of purple in the leaves and branches . The warm wind is painted with touches of yellow -ochre that help to give a sense of movement recalling the vorticism of Kirchner and Nolde.
The trunk of the olive tree is made with fast touches , that accentuate the twist and majesty and It is an excellent expressionist transposition of reality. The blue moon that always stands in the frameworks has a nostalgic, melanchony and also a spiritual light that radiates throughout the painting.
It 'a light that guides the observer and leads him on the focal points of the work, by the violence of bold color combinations to the triumph of the color on the forms.
The message transmitted by the works of the artist is a blessed quiet that leaves the viewer with a sense of ecstatic admiration mixed with uneasiness that upsets the soul but at the same time relaxs in an artistic oxymoron which makes those portraits unique and unrepeatable.
